2015 Audi A6 AC compressor seized – dealer quote 9k, any good independent shops in Sharjah?
I'm in a really bad spot. The AC compressor on my 2015 Audi A6 seized up last week. I heard a loud screech, then a burning smell, and then no cold air at all. I took it to the Audi dealer in Dubai and they confirmed the compressor is seized, and they said the system likely has metal debris throughout so they also need to replace the condenser, expansion valve, and flush the whole system. Their quote came out to 9,300 dirhams. I can't afford that right now. The car has 130,000 kilometers on it and I was hoping to keep it for another two years, but spending almost 10k on AC seems crazy. A colleague told me to look for an audi ac repair shop sharjah that specializes in European cars and can do the job for a reasonable price. Has anyone here had an AC compressor failure on an Audi or VW and used an independent shop in Sharjah? I'm worried about getting a cheap compressor that fails again in a year, but I also can't pay dealer prices. Also, is it really necessary to replace the condenser and expansion valve if the compressor seized, or is the dealer just upselling me? I'd love to hear from anyone who's been through this with an Audi. If you know a trustworthy shop in Sharjah that does quality AC work, please share. I'm desperate to get this fixed before summer.
