hex editting a CP

Is there an easyer way to hex edit a CP to get the correct start check sum and what is the best hex editor to do this
 Could someone make a Code plug youtube video for Motorola Codeplugs ??

I have been using Hex Workshop for years. it is not freeware but well worth the price.
The codeplug: Sort of a proprietary format, don't know that it has been reverse engineered.
I do know that block 10 byte offset = 0100 (4h) changing to 0000 turns off the key lock.
