Used Camaro SS in Ajman – should I get a specialist or just trust my gut?
#1
Been dreaming of owning a V8 Camaro for years and finally found a 2018 SS manual that fits my budget, located in Ajman. The seller seems like a younger guy who claims it's never been raced or drifted, but you know how that goes with these muscle cars. I took it for a quick spin and honestly it felt strong, but I'm no mechanic and I've heard horror stories about the differentials on these, not to mention the valve train issues on higher mileage LT1 engines. I'm trying to decide if I should just bring a friend who knows cars or actually pay for a proper inspection from people who deal with these daily. Someone at work mentioned a camaro car inspection dubai service that puts the car on a lift and checks everything from the rear subframe for cracks to scanning the ECU for overrev events and hidden tuning. That sounds like a lot more than what my buddy can do with a flashlight and a code reader. Has anyone here actually used a dedicated pre purchase inspection on a used Camaro in the UAE? I'm worried about spending extra money on something that might be fine, but I'm even more worried about buying a car that's been abused and then having the engine blow up three months later. The car is priced about 8k below market which is either a steal or a trap. What would you guys do?
