Boundaries, anyone?
#1
Everyone tells me to set boundaries with my sober cousin, but I feel like a jerk every time I say no to a ride or loan. Last month I covered his rent and then resented him for weeks. How do you support someone without enabling or collapsing yourself? Any family support recommendations in New York would help.

I learned the hard way that saying yes out of guilt can turn into resentment. My aunt kept lending her recovering son money until she finally agreed to help him find practical resources instead of covering every expense. She also joined a family support group and felt much less alone. For a New York starting point, here's St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers' Malone Outpatient Clinic: psychiatrist in Malone . I'd ask about family counselling and support groups.
