I had the same questions when I wanted something simple for Android rather than a setup full of complicated options. I found https://toggle.org/vpn-for-android and liked that the page explains one-touch connection, support for Wi-Fi, 4G and 5G, plus Split Tunneling and Kill Switch. It also mentions unlimited bandwidth and a no-logs policy, which were the details I was looking for. The setup is shown in three steps: subscribe, install the app, then open it and use the generated Security Code. I also noticed it is designed for phones and tablets and supports Android 8.0 and newer. That makes the whole process sound manageable even if someone is not very technical.
